The Alameda Rock Wall Halibut Tournament is a local day event held in Alameda, CA. The event will take place on June 1, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to all kayak anglers. The target species for the event is the California Halibut, and scoring will be based on the weight of the fish. All California Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFG) fishing regulations apply. After the tournament, there will be a fun gathering where prizes will be awarded to the top three contenders. This year, the ARW tournament will be supporting “Kayak Fishing For Beginners,” a non-profit organization dedicated to introducing marginalized and underprivileged groups to the joys and benefits of kayak fishing. They help children, veterans, and people with disabilities engage in and enjoy kayak fishing. In addition, the California Canoe & Kayak Fishing Team will host fishing seminars from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those interested in learning more about kayak fishing. The seminars include: – Learn to Catch California Halibut with Keith Nguyen – Kayak Fishing 101 with Drew and MooMOo Outdoors! Enjoy the music by DJ Sonny V!

As a contestant for a handful of years, this site offers a variety of fish. From the main target halibut, to rockfish, stripers, rockfish, perch, baitfish, rays, skates, sharks, and much more.

All proceeds go to Kayak Fishing For Beginners 501(c)(3). This is a popular event set in Monterey Ca. In this event derby participants will fish for all types of rockfish, lingcod, and Ca halibut. The past handful of winners have won on halibut. This is a fun event with a potluck afterwards and a great raffle.

This event has been going on for around 15 years and every year they choose another non profit. We were thankful that this year we were chosen. This is a fun event with around 100 kayak anglers or so. If you are in the California and want to join this derby go to https://www.montereybaykayaks.com/kayak-fishing-tours–2023-derby.html
